Gbagada, Nigeria.

Occupying a refurbished building within the grounds of Gbagada Hospital, the project was initiated by Rtn Dr Oladeinde Shoga in 2007. The staff of this Limb-making workshop were trained by Senior Prosthetist Max Acamun. The project included Equipment and materials for 500 limbs. Project sponsors were RC Newport Pagnell (UK) and RC Gbagada (Nigeria).

November 2009.

Great Lakes Rehabilitation Centre, Kampala, Uganda.
The Rotary clubs of Kampala-Kyambogo and Jersey combined sponsored a Jaipur Limb-making facility in premises of the Great Lakes Rehab Centre at Lukuli Hill, Kampala, Director Dr Wanume Kale. Dr Wanume has worked with RJLP since 1996 and is coordinator for all RJLP projects in Uganda. The project included equipment, materials and staff training.

January 2010

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.
This project, to establish a Jaipur limb-making facility in the Military Naval base at Abidjan, was first discussed in 2004. Premises were provided by the Naval authorities in 2008. Equipment and sufficient materials for 500 limbs arrived August 2008 and training of technicians in the Jaipur technology was completed in December 2008 by Chief Prosthetist Robster Nyirenda. Although the new centre was formally opened in March 2009, the technicians were deemed not to be sufficiently competent and the centre was closed until further training was completed in January 2010. The centre became operational on 24th January 2010.

BMVSS, Jaipur

The Trustees agreed to donate £10,000.00 (US$ 15,000.00) towards the expenses of running the main workshop of BMVSS in Jaipur.

RC Kolkata Central RI Dist 3290, runs a permanent limb centre at The Jain Hospital in Kolkata. Financial support was given to purchase materials for the centre. The project was inaugurated by Chairman of Trustees PDG Clive Addis-Jones during the visit of Trustees and supporters of RJLP to Kolkata.

San Pedro, Cote d'Ivoire

RC San Pedro refurbished premises in the grounds of San Pedro General Hospital to accommodate the workshop and RC Minehead (UK), together with a DDF grant from District 1200, substantially funded the equipment and sufficient materials for 500 limbs. Training of the technicians was done by Chief Prosthetist Robster Nyirenda in November 2008. The new workshop was formally opened by the Ivorian Minister of Public Health in January 2009. For administrative reasons the workshop did not commence limb-making until February 2010.

Great Lakes Rehabilitation Centre, Kampala, Uganda.

As a result of a bottleneck in training of technicians at the four new centres in East Africa it was decided to hold a training course for all participating technicians at the centrally-placed GLRC in Kampala, using experienced `Jaipur' technicians augmented by senior staff from the Orthopaedic training school, Mulago Hospital, Kampala. RJLP agreed to part fund the costs of a recently qualified Orthopaedic Technician form Strathclyde University to attend this training course for experience. Other costs included help with building residential accommodation, gait training area and a 40ft container for storage.
